Pre-Med Internship for High School Students in Ghana
Gain early medical experience in Ghana with Pro-Passion Projects’ High School and Pre-Med Internship Program. Designed for high school students, gap-year students, and international pre-med undergraduates — including US pre-med applicants — this medical internship in Ghana offers supervised hospital observation, community health exposure, and cultural immersion in a safe and ethical setting.
Interns are placed in accredited hospitals and community clinics in Accra, where they shadow doctors and nurses during ward rounds, outpatient consultations, and emergency care observation. Participants also observe maternal and child health services such as antenatal care, vaccination clinics, and PMTCT counseling, and may support public health outreach programs including screenings and health education campaigns when available.
Under supervision, interns may assist with non-clinical hospital tasks such as organizing triage, supporting patient documentation, updating basic records, and preparing materials for health promotion sessions. Interns may also attend case discussions and clinical teaching sessions to understand real-life medical decision-making in low-resource settings.
This pre-med internship in Ghana is ideal for high school students and pre-med undergraduates who want to gain early medical exposure before applying to medical school, strengthen their personal statements and CVs, gain confidence in a hospital setting, and learn about global health in a developing country. Unlike many major international volunteer organizations that restrict hospitals to medical students only, Pro-Passion Projects provides structured and supervised access for pre-med and high school students without clinical interference — ensuring an ethical, responsible, and educational experience.

Ines Beauvalet from UK review on Trustpilot
"I had the best time and best experience of my life doing this project. From the way I was received, to the itinerary, everything was amazing. The host family was the best, Sheila made you feel so at home, and I can’t thank her family enough for letting me stay there, I still miss them every day! Joseph was also amazing and really made sure you had the best time and explained everything very well. I had the best supervisor, Stephen, whom I really saw as a friend and always checked up on me when I was there, and he definitely made my experience amazing! He supported me the whole time. Thank you for everything. I can’t recommend this project enough!!!!"
